Jade is a Fashion Textiles Graduate based in Frome, UK. Her practice involves sourcing waste and dead-stock materials in order to exhibit their potential in a garment. Her fascination of biomaterials has led her to experiment with algae and natural dyes. She believes the ‘limitations’ of these resources stimulate boundless creativity.

SUSTAINABLE FASHION & textile DESIGNER

Jade’s Graduate Collection is fuelled by locals on the Avon and Kennet Canal. It focuses on the functionality of those residing on canal boats. Old lorry curtains and used climbing ropes are sourced from businesses around Bristol alongside dead-stock fabric to produce each garment. This look was presented at Graduate Fashion Week’s Innovation Exhibition.

Jade has experimented with Algae and Natural Dyes in order to cater to consumer behaviour, creating materials made to decompose. This followed on from research into Mycelium as a solution to textile waste. She portrays how these materials can be utilised in today’s fashion system.
